Donald E. Hopping

July 17th, 1943 – January 31st, 2024

Donald E. Hopping, 80, of Table Grove, IL, passed away at 1:20 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Prairie City Rehabilitation and Health Care in Prairie City, IL. He was born on July 17, 1943 in Moline, IL, the son of Clifford and Margaret (McCormick) Hopping.

Survivors include his two sister; Donna (and Jerry) VanOpdorp of Atkinson, IL and Ilene Bearce of Macomb, IL, two brothers; Leroy Hopping of Quincy, IL and Chuck Hopping of Industry, IL, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ronald and Gary Hopping, and one sister; Sue Taylor.

Donald loved to farm. He farmed for Bruketta’s in Table Grove since the 1960’s and really enjoyed working for them.

He was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and playing cards with his family. He was known as a handyman who could fix about anything and a great guy to be around. He loved his dog, Danny.

A service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. A visitation will take place from 1 to 2:30 pm before the service on Saturday. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. Memorials may be made to the McDonough County Animal Shelter.

Donny was such a good guy. I remember when he dated my grandma Mary. He was always so sweet and kind to everyone. He will surely be missed. So sorry
